| DEPOSIT TYPE Precious Metal-Rich Volcanogenic Massive Sulphide STAGE Detail IP, Drill-Ready LOCATION 8 km north-northwest of Savant Lake ![]() Click to enlarge CLAIMS AND OWNERSHIP Sabin comprises 180 25 units which are wholly owned by Commander Resources Ltd. and an additional 90 claim units that constitute 7 separate mining leases. Of these 90 units, 14 are jointly owned by the Company (66 2/3%) and Noranda (33 1/3%) while 6 other claims are held MGR (58.5%), Noranda (41.5%). LOGISTICS: The property is located just north of the Community of Savant Lake, Ontario, which is connected to the Trans Canada Highway at Ignace by paved Highway #599. Paved highway #516 which passes through the property, connects Highway #599 with Sioux Lookout, one hour to the west. The east-west CN Mainline runs through Savant Lake, providing key infrastructure to the region. The property can be worked year-round with a hotel for base in Savant Lake. WORK HISTORY A total of approximately $1.895 million has been expended on the Sabin property.
![]() RESULTS Several phases of exploration have been conducted since the 1950's which has led to the discovery of five significant base metal showings and one gold showing to date. Widespread alteration characterized by sodium and calcium depletion is evident in areas underlain primarily by sericitized volcanics containing disseminations of chalcopyrite, spalerite, galena and pyrite. A large IP anomaly occurs at the Golsil Prospect with highly anomalous gold and base metals in the southeast portion of the property which remains untested. Re-interpretation of historic IP results suggest that the known Marchington, South and S-23 base metal zones remain open along strike and down dip. Outlined below are some of the more substantial discoveries and potential targets located on the Sabin claims.
PROPOSED EXPLORATION PROGRAM/OBJECTIVES The potential for new base and precious metal discoveries remain high as limited surveying has identified a number of geophysical anomalies of which only several were drill tested. In particular lithogeochemical sampling at the GOLSIL Zone returned highly anomalous base and precious metal values of up to 2.2% Pb, 219 g/t Ag, 4.4% Zn, 1.2% Cu and 70 ppb Au. The IP survey conducted over this area revealed a 100 x 500 m northeast trending anomaly which may be comprised of up to 3 discreet zones. Work consisted of 2 short holes, both were drilled off the IP chargeability anomaly. An initial program consisting of detailed IP surveying (10 km) followed by approximately 1200 metres of drilling in 4-6 holes is recommended for the GOLSIL area. Additional IP surveying followed by diamond drilling is also warranted to test the strike and dip extent of the Marchington/South and S-23 Zones as well as the conductive zone associated with intense alteration at the Kash Zone. | |||||||||||||||||
